Creative Commons Resources

This section contains a list of resources whose creators have made them free for sharing so that you can use them in your video. Note that while we call this page "Creative Commons Resources", there are a variety of licenses that allow sharing and, of course, public domain resources, which are completely free to use. These are sites where you can find music to use legally in your video. Be sure to check with the license to make sure that your use is allowed.
- ccMixter: Music and audio samples licensed as Creative Commons.
- Jamendo: Creative Commons Music site
- Antenna Alliance: No profit recording collective with Creative Commons music
- List of Netlabels on iCommons: a list of Net labels with Creative Commons music
- Watch out for "NoDerivs" licenses, which will not allow for use in videos
- Internet Archive: Links to freely licensed and public domain audio and video
- Freesound: Great resource for audio clips and samples to be used in music or for sound effects
- CCHits: Tracks popular music released under Creative Commons licenses.
- Magnatune: No paid license is required for people creating new works for non-commercial use. However to use Magnatune tracks in your production, you must also license your content under a Creative Commons license.
- Podsafe Audio: "aims to provide a location where musicians can upload music under the Creative Commons License for use in Podcasts, Mashups, Shoutcasts, Webcasts and every other kind of 'casting' that exists on the 'net..."
